Happy Birthday Lily

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Lily Brown was born Monday, January 22nd at 2:06 pm at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. She weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Her head was 35 cm around which, according to all of the doctors and nurses I talked to, was the biggest brain they have ever measured. In case you are still questioning her intelligence, She's 3 days old today and already has her own blog, so that's pretty good.

Ashley and Lily are both doing great and are now home from the hospital. Lily celebrated by barfing 4 times yesterday. She also celebrated by opening her right eye which, as you will see in some of the pictures, she couldn't quite get open at the hospital. We are so excited to have her out and now to have her home. Everyone tells us our lives are about to change...we are excited to have her change them.

Because all she does right now is eat, sleep and poop, there is not a whole lot to report. Here, however, are some posts you can look forward to:

  • How Lily learned to say "Dad" before she turned 1...week
  • How Scott and Ashley noticed a light go on in Lily's room and were scared somebody had broken in, but when they went back into her room, they found her reading (and she was only a month old!)
  • How Lily's rich aunt Danielle set up a scholarship fund for her
  • How Lily beat up her cousin Oliver even though he is 3 weeks older than her and a boy
  • How Lily learned to change her own diaper

Here are more pictures of the cutest baby in the world (that is not just a dad bragging about his little girl...they actually did some tests at the hospital and proved it):

Wow, that's great. I love the pictures...but in one of them it looks like the baby Lily is missing all of her teeth. Is she ok? Be sure not to feed her candy or soda pop for the first 3 weeks- it can cause teeth to rot right out. I hope you didn't already do that.

Well, it's great to see her eyes are un-sealed. Please ask her if she wants to have a sleep over at our house this weekend. We have season 5 of 24 to catch up on.

Thanks,
Uncle

Brett-

Babies shouldn't have candy or soda pop AT LEAST until they're off breast milk. That's nowhere even NEAR 3 weeks!!!

The debate as to whether anyone should EVER eat candy and soda can be saved for another time and place, but you should be informed that your statement isn't just puting this poor baby at risk, but it is very ignorant, and i hope you can never have kids. Ever.

Bret brings up a very good point. He did, however, fail to mention that in most of the pictures the little baby's mouth is wide open. Does she (the baby) do that on purpose, or did some prankster burp her too hard? I hope for the former.

If by chance it is permanent, I guess I could place a chimichanga in her mouth and she couldn't do anything about it. My grandpa (Raul)once made a chimichanga containing all five food groups. (a healthy alternative for this baby)

Congrats,
The Aaceman

Favorite color Blue??? That isn't true. I talked to Lily at the hospital and she told me her favorite color is pink with hints of brown.

More like the Blonde family! hahaha!

Can Lily chem gum yet? I'm going to be the aunt who always has fingernail polish and gum. Also, I want to take her this weekend to get her ears pierced.

I can't wait to see Lily tommorow.

I'm bringing some great presents for her: tobacco, crystals, frozen enchildas, shot glass, a gasoline rag, DeWalt Powersander, tar, tiny bottle of medicine, and a chemistry set.

Everything is rated baby-safe, except for the chemistry set (because it has pure potassium which is highly unstable at room temps, so you guys will have to watch carefully when she's playing with that stuff).

See ya soon!

Lily is BEAUTIFUL! We are really happy someone sent the pics on to us to help share in this great occasion! Is it everything you thought it would be...from the brochure?!!

We'll have to get together sometime when you're all up to it!

I think Lily is probably the cutest little thing ever born...and that's not just because I'm her mom. She's thrown up on me and pooped on her dad and I STILL think that! Thanks to all for your love!

Scott and Ashley!
From Katya: All this talk of Mexican food (chimichangas, enchiladas...) makes me think of Cafe Rio. Has Lily been there yet? Because I think she'd love it!! I was taken there for my birthday one year, so why wasn't she?
S dnyom rozheniya, krasavica!! Mi zhelajem yey krepkogo zdorovya i dolgoy, schaslivoy zhizni! Pust vash malen'kij angel rastyot i raduyet roditelej!
From PJ: Steven Wright quote: "I was reading through some of my old journals the other day. I read my first journal. It said: Day 1 - still tired from the move. Day 2 - everyone talks to me like I am an idiot."
